In 2017, the words "Lines of Flight" corresponded well to my research and the production that has since ensued, without confining it to a too strict definition.
A painting is of course a vanishing line in itself and my architectural sensitivity goes well with the lines, whatever they are:… straight or flexible, geometric, in relief or in hollow, the lines are included in the materials that I use (the outlines of the sheets of paper that I cut out) and that I assemble by structuring the space plan by plan.
... Although rooted in reality, my paintings are neither figurative nor abstract. They often have more to do with the part of mystery that emerges from the world than with concrete reality.
However, even if my sources of inspiration are still the same today (a color, a light, a movement in space, the desire to explore large landscapes are enough to give the creative impulse ...), in 2020 everything takes on a new meaning.
A need for relief as pressing as that of breathing, of being free and of getting out of the frame, led me to renew myself and to discover a new material (well anchored in reality and full of meaning!): Paper newspaper, daily news.
The press, newspapers, titles offer me new avenues to explore ... Relentless mirrors of reality, inexhaustible raw materials: press papers allow me to slide gently from reality to humor, from unvarnished news to poetry or even to mystery, from the present time to that of the narration, and offer the opportunity - for those who seek to distance themselves from a reality that is too harsh - a real "Line of Flight"!
